Most people already know what the good news is so why tell them? Because knowing is not good enough. A person must believe on Christ and tell others (Jn 6.47 & Rom 10.9).
To be born of God a person must believe on Christ after we tell them the good news. “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching (the gospel, Mk 16.15) to save them that believe (1 Cor 1.21b & & 1 Jn 5.1). Please see SAVED on www.preach-the-gospel.org for a definition of 'saved'.
We know that we are of God and the whole world lies in wickedness (1 Jn 5.19). This is why it is so important to tell others the good news (gospel) and teach them that believe to tell the good news (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20). Preaching the gospel is God's only plan to save the world and it includes us. Our job is simply to tell others - “Christ died for our sins, he was buried and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4).” This is the gospel according to the scriptures (1 Cor 15.1-4).
The Apostle John also wrote, “The things we have seen and heard we declare to you that you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with God the Father and with his son Jesus Christ (1 Jn 1.3). He saw Christ die on the cross for our sins, buried, and risen from the grave. Christ appeared to them at least three times over a forty day period before ascending to sit on the right hand of God (Jn 21.14, Acts 1.3) commanding his disciples to, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15).”
Knowing is not good enough. We must preach the gospel to others in person with our mouth (Eph 6.19-20 & Col 4.3-4) so they can believe on Christ and be saved (Jn 3.36 & 6.47, Acts 16.31 and Rom 1.14). Then we can teach them how to preach the gospel (See TEACH THEM on www.preach-the-gospel.org.
