The purpose of the church is to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mk 16.15)." If we aren't doing this we are deceiving ourselves (James 1.22).
Can you think of any church today who is teaching their members to preach the gospel? Why do you suppose they aren't? I explain in papers that this is because the church has replaced the gospel with their 'plan of salvation' which can only be preached from a pulpit, that Christ's command is preach the gospel (in the world), not present the 'plan of salvation' (in church). All of the one-page articles on www.preach-the-gospel.org, along with our weekly Good News Reports, are aimed at one thing only: to teach others to preach the gospel and disciple others to preach the gospel.
We believe our country and world lies in wickedness because the gospel is not being preached as Christ commands us to do? No gospel means no salt and light? We believe our current economic crisis is a result of the gospel not being preached (See THE ECONOMIC CRISIS on www.preach-the-gospel). What choice do we have? We can continue playing church or we can go in to the world and preach the gospel. By preaching the gospel and teaching other to do so we turn our nation and world right-side up and speed Christ's return for us to take us to be with Him forever (Mt 24.14 & 30-31 and 1 Thes 4.13-18).
The gospel is clearly defined by the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Corinthian believers, "Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; by which also you are saved if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And he was buried, and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Cor 15.1-4).”
To preach this same gospel the Apostle Paul himself receieved and preached simply ask another if they have heard the good news and tell them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day (1 Cor 15.3-4)." Then teach them that believe to preach the gospel. In so doing we beget new creatures (1 Cor 4.15) who are filled with the holy Spirit of God (Eph 1.13). Hatred is replaced by - love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (See WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW on www.preach-the-gospel.org).
Let's not deceive ourselves (James 1.22). The purpose of the Church (You and I) is to preach the gospel and teach others to preach it (Mk 16.15 & Mt 28.20), for in so doing we turn the world right-side up and speed Christ's return to take us to be with Him forever (See TURN THE WORLD RIGHT-SIDE UP and TWO OR THREE on www.preach-the-gospel.org.). Just do it!
